Animal Care Committee approval is required before animals are procured and before any animal-based research proceeds. Approval (“Clearance”) must stay in place for the duration of the studies. Where researchers suspend animal-related studies but may, under the same grant, resume studies in future, it is highly recommended to maintain an animal clearance by keeping an active, approved protocol.
