Undergraduate Woodwinds Audition Requirements

Applicants whose repertoire features piano accompaniment are required to perform their auditions with a collaborative pianist. If you are unable to perform with a collaborative pianist, contact us to discuss an accommodation.

FLUTE

  1. Repertoire
    1. Two contrasting pieces of music (which could include single movements from larger works) that allow you to showcase your musical and technical development. Of these two selections, it is preferable that at least one include piano or other accompanying instrument.
    2. One 茅tude of your choice, any style.
  2. Technical Requirements
    1. All major scales, two octaves
    2. All minor (harmonic and melodic) scales, two octaves
    3. Chromatic scale from low C (C4) to high B natural (B6)
  3. Sight Reading

OBOE

  1. Repertoire
    1. Two contrasting pieces of music (which could include single movements from larger works) that allow you to showcase your musical and technical development. Of these two selections, it is preferable that at least one include piano or other accompanying instrument.

  2. Technical Requirements
    1. Expected range: to high D only.
    2. All major scales, two octaves where possible (within the expected range)
    3. All harmonic and melodic minor scales, two octaves where possible (within the expected range)
    4. Chromatic scale, two octaves, beginning on any note.
