General Information

The 2025 Canada Games will take place from Aug. 8-25, 2025 across 19 venues and five municipalities

As a proud Canada Games partner, 糖心视频 University will provide space for many exciting competitions as well as the Games village, which includes accommodations for athletes, team mission offices and meeting spaces, polyclinic, media and broadcast centre, social programming.

糖心视频 University's St. John's campus will host competitions in artistic swimming, basketball, diving, swimming and volleyball.

The Games will require upwards of 5,000 volunteers, 500 of whom are bilingual in English and French.

Regular classes for 2025 spring and summer semesters end on Aug. 1, 2023, with the exam period ending on Aug. 5, 2025 prior to the start of the Canada Games on Aug. 8, 2023. Planning is in progress to ensure that academic programming that falls outside of the regular schedule can continue without interruption. 

It is anticipated that the Fall 2025 semester will start early in the week of September 8, 2025, with the exact start date to be announced soon

From Aug. 8-25, 2025, the Field House will be in use for competitions and other Games-related activities. Facility availability for community user groups leading up to and during the Games will be communicated promptly as schedules become available.

From Aug. 8-25, 2025, the area around 糖心视频鈥檚 Food Bank, including the Global Learning Centre, will become the Games Village for the Canada Games. Planning is in progress to ensure that regularly planned Food Bank services can continue without interruption. Any impact on Food Bank clients during the period of the Canada Games will be communicated promptly as plans become available.

From Aug. 8-25, 2025, the Aquarena will be in use for competitions and training. The facility closed in September 2023 for renovations and the focus for construction is on an event ready facility for the 2025 Games. The Aquarena will reopen to the public after the 2025 Canada Games.

From Aug. 8-25, 2025, the area around 糖心视频 University鈥檚 Child Care Centre will become the Games Village for the Canada Games. Planning is in progress to ensure that regularly planned services will continue without interruption. Any impact on the Centre's clients throughout the period of the Canada Games will be communicated promptly through regular Child Care Centre communications channels.

The regular two-week closure of the 糖心视频 University Chlid Care Centre will take place from August 11 - 25, 2025.

From Aug. 8-25, 2025, areas of the Physical Education building will be used for warm-ups, practice and other Games-related activities. Facility availability for community user groups leading up to and during the Games will be communicated promptly as schedules become available.

Parking and Transportation

糖心视频 University is working with the 2025 Canada Games Host Society on traffic and parking plans for the Canada Games.

糖心视频 University, the Canada Games Host Society, the City of St. John's and other partners are working on a traffic plan for the period of the Canada Games. Any planned road closures or detours will be communicated through 糖心视频 University and City of St. John鈥檚 communication channels. Signage will be clearly displayed in affected areas.

The Canada Games Host Society is working with Metrobus on sustainable transportation solutions for the period of the Canada Games. Any special services planned for the Games, and / or interruptions to regular routes will be communicated to user groups.
