This award was established by Dr. David Behm. Valued at $500 annually, the award will be granted to a full-time graduate student enrolled in the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland who has achieved the highest average in two specific research courses, HKR 6000 and HKR 6001. The recipient must meet the minimum academic requirements for an award as defined by the University Students must apply through and submit an application to the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation. The award will be granted by the Deputy Provost and Dean, Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the Dean, School of Human Kinetics.

This award was established by Dr. David Behm. Valued at $500 annually, the award will be granted to a full-time graduate student enrolled in the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation (SHKR) at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland. The student must have demonstrated the greatest initiative towards publishing research during their tenure in the SHKR graduate program. This can include submitted or published papers, abstracts or data collection. The recipient must meet the minimum academic requirements for an award as defined by the University. Students must apply and submit an application to the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation. The award will be granted by the Deputy Provost and Dean, Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the Dean, School of Human Kinetics and Recreation.

This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Matthew J. Patey, PhD, by his parents, Anthony and Beverly Patey, to honour his work and achievements in the field of adapted physical education and encourage students who are pursuing study in this field. Matthew completed his Bachelor of Physical Education, Bachelor of Education and Masters in Physical Education at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland. He then went on to study at the University of South Carolina to pursue and complete his PhD in Adapted Physical Education. Valued at a portion of the income on the endowment, the scholarship will be awarded annually to a full-time graduate student enrolled in the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation, who has demonstrated an interest in the area of adapted physical education. Preference will be given to a student who has graduated from a high school in Newfoundland and Labrador. If there is no eligible candidate in a given year, the scholarship will be awarded to any full-time graduate student enrolled in the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation.

The scholarship will be granted by the Deputy Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies, on the recommendation of the Dean, School of Human Kinetics and Recreation.

The Awards were established by the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association (NLSA). Valued at $1,000 each annually, one Award will be granted to a student who is a current member of the Sea-Hawks Women's Varsity Soccer Team and one Award will be granted to a student who is a current member of the Sea-Hawks Men's Varsity Soccer Team. To be eligible, students must be full-time and have achieved a minimum average of 65% based on the previous academic year of study at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland. First-year students will also be eligible provided they are full-time and meet the minimum academic requirements for an award as defined by ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University. Students must demonstrate commitment and leadership in the game of soccer. Preference will be given to a student who has graduated from a high school in Newfoundland and Labrador who is also a NLSA Provincial Team or Canada Games Programming alumnus.

In the case of undergraduate students, the Awards will be granted by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards. In the case of graduate students, the Awards will be granted by the Deputy Provost and Dean, Graduate Studies. Both will be on the recommendation of the Director, Varsity Athletics. The Fry Family Foundation Amelia (Dolimount) Sellars Leadership Award in Women's Athletics is part of the Fry Family Foundation Awards program. The award was created to recognize and encourage tomorrow's great leaders. The Fry Family Foundation was founded by Darryl and Marlene (nee Sellars) Fry, who were born, raised and educated in Newfoundland and Labrador. They are alumni of ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University and have a passion for both the university and the province. The Foundation helps to build stronger communities by investing in the development oof young talent, as well as supporting health, social causes, nature and the arts. This scholarship is named in honour of Amelia (Dolimount) Sellars, mother of Marlene Fry. In the 1920's, the school in Grand Bank was relatively modern, with a well-equipped gymnasium, and Amelia was a very proud member of the girls' basketball team. She was a strong and capable woman who later moved to St. John's to pursue employment and start a family. Valued at $5,000 annually, the Award will be granted to either an undergraduate or graduate female student athlete who is a current member of a varsity team at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland and has demonstrated strong leadership skills, commitment to their sport and role as ambassador in the community. Full-time students beyond the first year of academic studies must achieve a minimum average of 65% based on the previous academic year of study at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University. First-year students will also be eligible provided they meet the minimum academic requirements for an Award as defined by ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University.

Students must apply by submitting an application to the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation. Please check with the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation for the internal deadline. In the case of an undergraduate student, the Award will be granted by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards. In the case of a graduate student, the Award will be granted by the Deputy Provost, Graduate Studies. Both will be on the recommendation of the Director, Varsity Athletics.

The Awards were established in memory of Devon Johnathon O'Grady, who led his life with love and kindness, and was a loyal and devoted member of many families, teams and communities. He was a dedicated volunteer for many sports programs, including the Sea-Hawks Varsity men's and women's basketball teams. A great sportsman, Devon was known to be the most spirited player for his many high school sports teams, as well as an avid and disciplined runner. He was a light in the lives of everyone around him as the embodiment of team spirit, loyalty, and unconditional love. Valued at a portion of the income on the endowment, two Awards of equal value will be granted annually to two students; one to a student who is currently a member of the Sea-Hawks Varsity Men's Basketball Team, and one to a student who is currently a member of the Sea-Hawks Women's Varsity Basketball Team at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland. Recipients must be full-time undergraduate and/or graduate students beyond the first year of academic studies, have achieved a minimum average of 65% based on the previous academic year of study at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University, and must also demonstrate team sportsmanship, fairness and inclusion, and community involvement. Preference will be given to students in financial need.
