Below are active scholarships open to graduate students in the Faculty of Business Administration.

BMO Financial Group Graduate Scholarship in the Faculty of Business Administration 

The BMO Financial Group Graduate Scholarship in the Faculty of Business Administration was created through the generous support of the Bank of Montreal through Dare To: the Campaign for ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University and is valued at a portion of the income on the endowment. One or more scholarships may be awarded annually by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies upon the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration.

Value: $21,862*

Eligibility: Full-time PhD student enrolled in the Faculty of Business Administration

Canadian Beverage Association Graduate Business Scholarship

Awarded annually to a full-time graduate student enrolled in either the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Management, or the PhD in Management programs in the Faculty of Business Administration.

Value: $2,439

James Barnes MBA Scholarship 

Established by the Faculty of Business Administration in 2009 to honour and acknowledge Dr. Barnes’ retirement and contributions to the faculty. Valued at a portion of the income on the endowment, it will be awarded annually to a full-time graduate student with scholarship standing who has left full-time employment to enter the MBA program. The recipient must meet the minimum academic requirements for a scholarship. It will be awarded by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration.

Value: $1,007.00.

Rob Crosbie MBA Scholarship

Awarded annually to two part-time students in the Master of Business Administration program in the Faculty of Business Administration. The recipients must meet the minimum academic requirements for scholarship standing as defined by the University.

Value: two scholarship awards valued at $1,250.00 each

Victor Young Graduate Student Citizenship Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize the achievements of a graduate student in the Faculty of Business Administration who has greatly contributed to one or more of the following: student life, the faculty, the University or their community through volunteerism during their business studies. The recipient must have demonstrated an ability to apply academic experience in a real-world context. The recipient must meet the minimum academic requirements for an award as defined by the University.

Value: $500

Eligibility: Full-time/Part-time, student in any graduate program in the Faculty of Business Administration

Eaton Foundation Scholarship 

This scholarship, valued at the interest on the initial endowment, is to be awarded to a student who has left full-time employment of five years or more to enter full-time studies in the MBA program, for completion or near completion of the degree. Selection of the candidate for the scholarship will be made based on academic merit and financial need. Awards will be made on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration and the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies. Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Value: $1,500.00.

Imperial Tobacco Canada Limited Graduate Scholarship in Business Studies 

This Scholarship, valued at a portion of the income on the pre-existing endowment, was established from a generous donation made by Imperial Tobacco Canada Limited in 2000-2001. This Scholarship may include, at the discretion of the donor, an invitation to their head office to meet their management team. Selection of the candidates will be made based on academic merit. The scholarship is awarded by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies upon the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration. 

Value: $7,185 (split annually between two students)

Eligibility: Students entering full-time MBA studies

Joe O'Neill ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Award 

This award was established by a generous donation from Yvonne O’Neill in memory of her husband, Joe O’Neill. Joe spent the majority of his distinguished career in the public sector, and his passion was in the field of labour relations. He was considered an expert in this field and was often asked to present to students in the Faculty of Business Administration on this topic. Valued at a portion of the income on the endowment, it will be granted by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration. The recipient must meet the minimum academic requirements for an award as defined by ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland.

Value: $541.00.

Eligibility: Full-time graduate student in the Faculty of Business Administration, preference given to those demonstrating an interest in Labour relations.

Peggy Finney Pelletier Graduate Scholarship in Business Administration 

This scholarship, established in honour of Ms. Peggy Finney Pelletier, was created by her brother Mr. Steve Finney. The scholarship is awarded annually by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration. The recipient must meet the minimum academic requirements for a scholarship as defined by ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University.

Value: $1,000

Eligibility: Full-time graduate student enrolled in any master’s program within the Faculty of Business Administration

The Atlantic Credit Unions Graduate Award in Business 

This award was established by a generous donation from the Atlantic Credit Unions (Community, Eagle River, Eastern Edge, Hamilton Sound, Leading Edge, Public Service, Reddy Kilowatt and Venture Credit Unions). Atlantic Central provides support to charitable and community programs in alignment with the values of our members throughout Atlantic Canada. Atlantic credit unions have been investing in programs and services across the Atlantic region since 2000 and are proud to support ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland. Valued at a portion of the income on the endowment, the award will be granted annually by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration. Recipients must meet the minimum academic requirements for the award as defined by ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland.

Value: $400.00.

Eligibility: Full-time student in any graduate program in the Faculty of Business Administration, preference given to those with demonstrated interest in social entrepreneurship

The Dr. Alex Faseruk MBA Scholarship for Excellence in Service

Valued at a portion of the income on the endowment, this award is in recognition of Dr. Alex Faseruk’s contribution to the Faculty of Business Administration as Professor of Finance and Coach of MBA case competition teams. The scholarship is awarded annually by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies upon the recommendation of the Associate Dean, Academic Programs, Faculty of Business.

Value: $2,009

Eligibility: Full-time MBA student with demonstrated outstanding service through participation in student, faculty or university activities and/or contribution to the larger community.

The Dr. Sudhir Saha Graduate Scholarship in Business 

This scholarship is made possible through a generous donation from Dr. Sudhir Saha. This scholarship will be awarded by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration. The recipient must meet the minimum academic requirements for a scholarship as defined by ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland and preference will be given to a recipient with demonstrated financial need.

Eligibility: Full-time international student in a graduate program in the Faculty of Business Administration

The Faculty of Business Administration Jacinta Sheppard Fellowship 

This fellowship, made possible through a donation by the Faculty of Business Administration, is in honour of Jacinta Sheppard, an MBA student who passed away in 1997 after a lengthy illness. While in the MBA program, Ms. Sheppard demonstrated academic excellence and a dedication to learning. The award will be granted annually by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration.

Value: $1,502

Eligibility: Full-time graduate student in the Faculty of Business Administration with demonstrated academic excellence and dedication to learning. Subject to the opinion of the Selection Committee

The Gar Pynn Scholarship in Business 

This endowed scholarship is made possible through an anonymous donation to ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University by an anonymous donor in recognition of Professor Pynn's contribution to the Faculty of Business Administration over his 27 years of service. The scholarship will be awarded annually by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies upon the recommendation by the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration.

Value: $2,000.00.

Eligibility: Full-time student at the end of their first year of study in the MBA program and who has demonstrated a combination of academic excellence, significant contributions to the faculty, and leadership in student life.

The James Beresford and Ross Young MBA Bursary

Valued at a portion of the income on the endowment, this bursary was established by a generous donation from Vic and Eileen Young (Beresford) in memory of their fathers, James Beresford and Ross Young. The recipient must meet the minimum academic requirements for a bursary as defined by ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland. This bursary is renewable for one year and subject to the aforementioned criteria. It will be awarded by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration.

Value: $2,598.

Eligibility: Full-time MBA student with financial need and is not a recipient of other scholarships, bursaries, or awards. Preference given to those with an established record of active community involvement.

The Rolf G. Hattenhauer Scholarship Fund

Awarded on a rotating basis to either an undergraduate or graduate student in the Faculty of Business Administration who is concentrating in or conducting research on the area of Personnel and Industrial Relations.

Value: $1,520

The Schulich Scholarship For Entrepreneurship 

This scholarship, sponsored by Nevada Capital Corporation Ltd., is open to students completing the first year of the M.B.A. program of the Faculty of Business Administration. Students must make special applications for the award to the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration. 

Value: $5,000.00.

Eligibility: Students completing the first year of the MBA program with, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, has demonstrated entrepreneurial orientation

The W.F. Morneau Scholarship 

This scholarship, valued at the interest on the initial endowment will be awarded by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies upon the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration to a student who has been granted direct entry on a full-time basis to Term 3* of the MBA program and who has exhibited a high level of ambition. Financial need may also be taken into consideration when awarding the scholarship.

The Wood Gundy Scholarship 

The Wood Gundy Scholarship for Graduate Business students will be awarded annually by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies upon the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration. The value of this scholarship will be determined by the annual income derived from the initial endowment

Value: $2,064.00.

Eligibility: MBA student with demonstrated leadership ability through participation in student, faculty, or university activities and/or contributions to the larger community. Preference given to those with a career interest in Finance

Weintrop Family Atlantic Promise Scholarship in Business

This scholarship was established by a generous donation from Joseph Weintrop. As a newly married couple, Joseph and his wife, Jane, moved to Newfoundland in 1976 where they were warmly welcomed by the community of ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University. Through supporting the Faculty of Business Administration’s goal of providing graduate education opportunities to members of the Indigenous community, they view this scholarship as a meaningful way to express their gratitude. Valued at a portion of the income on the endowment, it will be awarded annually by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies on the recommendation of the dean, Faculty of Business Administration. The recipient must meet the minimum academic requirements for scholarship standing as defined by ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University.

Value: $963.00.

Eligibility: Full-time/part-time Indigenous graduate student in the Faculty of Business Administration. An application is required.

Wesley and Jeanne Drodge Graduate Entrance Scholarship in Business

This scholarship will be granted annually by the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies on the recommendation of the dean, Faculty of Business Administration. Recipients must meet the minimum academic requirements for an award as defined by ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University.

Value: $1,162

Eligibility: Full-time graduate student in the Faculty of Business Administration entering their first year of study. Preference given to Newfoundland and Labrador high school graduates

Graduate Student Bursary in Business 

Valued at a portion of the income on the endowment, it will be awarded annually to any full-time student in any year of graduate studies in the Faculty of Business Administration. The recipient must demonstrate financial need as well as meet the minimum academic requirements for a bursary as defined by ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ University of Newfoundland.

The Greg Campbell ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Business Scholarship 

This scholarship is the result of a generous donation by Eleanor Swanson in memory of her late husband, J. Gregory Campbell. The scholarship will be awarded by the Senate Committee on Graduate Scholarships and Financial Aid upon the recommendation of the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies.

Value: $1,570.00.

Eligibility: Full-time graduate student entering their final year of study with a demonstrated record of active community involvement, volunteer work and/or service in the faculty/University.
