Personal Profile

Adrienne Peters (PhD) is a faculty member and the undergraduate program director of criminology in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at ������Ƶ University. Her research and teaching concentrate on how social control and processes of criminalization impact various groups/communities and how community-based services/organizations, supports, and programming impact individuals involved in the justice/legal system, as persons who are criminalized and as individuals working in and around the system. She is interested in the experiences of criminalized groups in the community and in custody/while incarcerated, as well as evidence-based policing. Adrienne has conducted research as PI, co-investigator, and collaborator on these topics with funding from various agencies including SSHRC and Mitacs. She has also published/co-authored publications and presented at several academic and community-based conferences in each of these areas.
