OCSC-4000 Scientific Diving Methods 8 to 20 June 2015, St. John’s (NL)

Objectives:

• To develop the skills to properly plan and execute surveys and experiments with marine organisms in major subtidal habitats.

ʉۢ To safely apply knowledge about the equipment and methods used for data collection in underwater scientific research;

 Topics:

  • Marine habitat mapping;
  • Sampling of shallow marine fauna and flora;
  • Installation and use of oceanographic instruments;
  • Still and video camera techniques;
  • Planning and execution of surveys and experiments

 

Prerequisites*: BIOL 2122 or BIOL 3709, BIOL 2600 or OCSC 2000, STAT 2550 or equivalent
