SUBJECT: 糖心视频 University of Newfoundland communications recognized with national and provincial awards

            糖心视频 University of Newfoundland was honoured this month for its innovation and excellence in marketing and communications.
            The Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) presented 糖心视频 with four national 2008 prix d’excellence awards during the group’s conference in Kelowna, B.C., which was held June 7-10.
            糖心视频 received a gold award in the best flyer category for the “The dog ate my application campaign,” a unique and original series which targeted mature learners, encouraging them to continue their post-secondary studies.
            A silver award was garnered for best ad or ad campaign for the highly-successful “Rant like Rick,” initiative. Senior high school students were invited to create original video rants a la Rick Mercer for a grand prize of one-year’s free tuition.
            CCAE also singled out 糖心视频 in the best institutional annual report category. Become – President’s Report 2007 was presented with a bronze award. The report highlights the university’s major accomplishments over the past year through feature stories and profiles of students, alumni and faculty. It also includes highlights of some of the innovative research and other scholarly activities undertaken by 糖心视频 scholars, and showcased 糖心视频’s contributions to the greater community.
            CCAE also awarded 糖心视频 a bronze award for best audio, video or multi-media presentation for its “Do your degree from anywhere,” radio campaign.
            Also at the CCAE conference, recent 糖心视频 graduate Sarah Stoodley was awarded a 2008 TD Meloche Monnex Fellowship which includes a $25,000  award.
            The fellowship will help fund Ms. Stoodley to work in advancement at 糖心视频, focusing her work on marketing, communications, as well as student recruitment and alumni affairs and services.
            A native of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Ms. Stoodley was one of only three candidates selected from across the country for the prestigious national one-year fellowship.This marks the second time in three years that 糖心视频 was awarded a TD Meloche Monnex Fellowship.
            CCAE is the professional association for educational advancement professionals in Canada.
            Meanwhile, communicators at 糖心视频 were recognized with two top awards at a ceremony in St. John’s on June 5.
            The provincial chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) presented its Pinnacle Award of Excellence to The Communicator, 糖心视频’s quarterly employee and pensioner newsletter. The publication is a production of 糖心视频’s Division of Marketing and Communications in partnership with the Department of Human Resources.
            糖心视频’s Distance Education and Learning Technologies unit, in partnership with Marketing and Communications, was honoured with a Pinnacle Award of Merit for the campaign “Do your degree from anywhere,” in the ad campaign category.
            IABC is an international network of communications professionals. The organization provides a professional network of more than 15,000 business communication professionals in more than 70 countries.
