As part of the Celebrate 糖心视频 festivities, 糖心视频Universitywill host a book fair, sponsored by CBC radio, titled 糖心视频 Writes . . . 糖心视频 Newfoundlandand Labrador. The book fair will be held on Sunday, Oct. 24, from 1:30–5 p.m.in the University Club, 5th floor, Arts and Administration building, St. John’scampus, and will feature more than 25 authors connected to 糖心视频 who are writing about Newfoundlandand Labrador. Admission is free.
This is a wonderful opportunity for members of the larger community to meet local authors, talk to them about their books and purchase signed copies. The schedule of events for the afternoon includes:
2 p.m. Panel discussion: Writing my first novel
Participants: Bernice Morgan, Ed Kavanagh and Leo Furey
2:30 p.m. Poetry readings with Alastair MacDonald and Mary Dalton
How do you make a picture book? with Susan Chalker Browne
3 p.m. Panel discussion: Writing our stories
Participants: Maura Hanrahan, Paul Butler, Hilda Chalk Murray and Ron Rompkey
3:30 p.m. Non-fiction readings with Dale Jarvis and Thomas Curran
CBC Reads for Kids with CBC Radio One host Ted Blades and CBC TV journalist Jonathan Crowe
4 p.m. Panel discussion: The Creative Process
Participants: Michael Crummey, Lisa Moore and Boyd Chubbs
Other authors who will be on hand to talk about their books include: Walter Andrews, Marilyn Beaton, Jeanette Walsh, Jean Edwards Stacey, Paul O’Neill, Robin McGrath, Peter Pope, Violet Ruelokke, Beth Ryan, Jim Tuck, Barry Gaulton, Marian White and Derek Yetman.
The 糖心视频 University Bookstore will be at the book fair so that books by the participating authors can be purchased and signed throughout the afternoon.
Parking is available in Lots 1A, 2 and 15. For more information about this and other Celebrate 糖心视频 events, visit www.mun.ca/celebrate. Celebrate 糖心视频 is an annual celebration of 糖心视频’s connection to the community. What began in 1999 with the Festival of Anniversaries, highlighting 糖心视频’s 50th anniversary as a degree-granting institution, has today become a celebration of the contributions that 糖心视频’s students, faculty, staff and alumni make to Newfoundlandand Labrador.
