Celebrating ISER Symposium, 28 April, 2026

The Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) warmly invites faculty, staff, students, and members of the public to join us on Tuesday, April 28 as we celebrate 65 years of fostering, supporting, and publishing research about Newfoundland and Labrador and the broader Atlantic world. Admission is free for both the morning symposium and evening reception, and all are welcome to attend. A full schedule and additional details will be available at .

Symposium

Junior Common Room, R. Gushue Hall

Join us for a morning symposium featuring three distinguished speakers closely connected to ISER across its history: Dr. Jamie Brake (Provincial Archaeologist, NL), Dr. Dona Lee Davis (Professor Emerita, Anthropology, University of South Dakota) and Dr. Barbara Neis (Professor Emerita, Sociology, ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ University).

Doors open with light refreshments at 8:30 AM. The program includes presentations, Q&A sessions, coffee breaks, and a book display.

Reception

April 28 | 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Great Hall, Queen’s College

Join us at our evening reception to mix, mingle, and help celebrate the achievements of the many researchers and authors who have been involved with the Institute and ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ University Press over the years.

Enjoy food and refreshments, a cash bar, some toasts, a book sale, and a student poster display.
